Company Overview
The Company Overview tab — labelled Company in the dashboard — is the primary entry point for public-company research. Search for any listed company by name or ticker, then explore financials, valuation ratios, earnings history, shareholders, peer comparisons, news, and SEC filings — all in one place.
Getting Started
Open the Company tab from the main dashboard. If no company is selected, you see a Market Summary landing page with live market data. Use the Search Company or Ticker button (or the company selector in the header) to look up a company and begin your analysis.
The Company tab is organised into a snapshot overview and seven deep-dive subtabs:
| Subtab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Financials | Income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and revenue segmentation |
| Key Metrics | Valuation ratios, profitability, leverage, liquidity, and per-share data |
| Earnings | Upcoming earnings dates, historical EPS surprises, and beat rates |
| Shareholders | Institutional holders (13F), float statistics, and ownership changes |
| Industry | Peer comparison across valuation, profitability, growth, and liquidity ratios |
| News | Recent company-specific news articles |
| Filings | SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and others) with filters and pagination |
Market Summary Landing
When no company is selected, the Company tab displays a live market overview:
- Market Indices — real-time cards for major indices (S&P 500, Dow Jones, Nasdaq, Russell 2000) showing current value, point change, and percentage change
- Top Gainers and Losers — the five best- and worst-performing stocks of the session, each with ticker, name, and percentage change
- Sector Performance — colour-coded chips for every market sector showing the day's percentage change
Click Search Company or Ticker to open the company search and begin analysing a specific stock.
Company Snapshot
After selecting a company, the overview page shows a comprehensive snapshot:
Header and Price
The header displays the company logo, full name, ticker symbol, exchange, sector, and industry. The current stock price appears on the right with the day's point and percentage change, colour-coded green for gains and red for losses.

Price Chart

Data Refresh and Disclaimers
Data is refreshed on different schedules:
- Price — approximately every minute
- Fundamentals and historical prices — every 5–60 minutes depending on cache
- Market indices — approximately every 2 minutes
Important: Data may be delayed and is not suitable for real-time trading decisions. All financial data is sourced from Financial Modeling Prep (FMP).
Best Practices
- Start with the snapshot — the overview page gives a quick pulse on price, valuation, and performance before diving into subtabs
- Use the price chart periods — compare short-term momentum (5D, 1M) against longer trends (6M, 1Y)
- Select metrics for charts — in Financials and Key Metrics, check up to six line items to visualise trends side by side
- Customise your peer set — add direct competitors or aspirational comparables to the Industry tab for more relevant benchmarking
- Monitor earnings surprises — a consistently high beat rate can signal strong execution; review the surprise history before earnings season
- Filter filings by type — use 10-K for annual deep dives, 10-Q for quarterly updates, and 8-K for material event disclosures
Troubleshooting
No market data on landing page
Problem: Market indices, gainers, and losers do not load. Solution: Check your network connection. Market data requires an active connection to external data providers. If the issue persists, refresh the page.
Company search returns no results
Problem: Searching for a company name or ticker yields an empty list. Solution: Verify the spelling or try the stock ticker symbol directly (e.g., "AAPL" for Apple). Only publicly listed companies are available.
Financial data shows dashes
Problem: Some metrics or table cells display "—" instead of values. Solution: This indicates the data point is not available for that company or period. Smaller or recently listed companies may have limited historical data.
Chart does not display
Problem: The price chart area is blank. Solution: Ensure the selected period has available data. Try a different period (e.g., switch from 5D to 1Y). If the issue persists, click Refresh.
